Details of life/death: He came from a Patrician family, his father being in his turn a consul during the reign of the emperor Hadrian. The inscription does not mention it but his cursus honorum was rich: he was a triumvir monetalis, quaestor, praetor, praefectus in Rome, as well as suffect consul. Moreover, except Moesia Inferior he was a legatus in Hispania Citerior (164-167 AD), and a proconsul of Asia (167 AD). He also participated in the campaigns against the Germans and the Sarmatians.
