Observations: There is a controversy around the name Pontius Laelianus due to the fact that we have a father (Marcus Pontius Laelianus Larcius Sabinus) and a son who bear it. Both individuals were senators. In this case of the inscription from Histria (ISM I 69) we are dealing with the son and in the case of the inscription from Troesmis (ISM V 144) we are dealing with the father.
