Details of person

ID: 21495

Cognomen/Personal name: Ἀλε[---] Κάστος

Gender: Male

Collegium/Association: yes

Details of life/death: The album might be recording the members of an association. The individual might be named Ἀλέξανδρος, and Κάστος might be the personal name of the father. However this cannot explain why Κάστος is in nominative not in genitive. Considering the space on the inscription it would be also difficult to believe that Ἀλέξανδρος was a patronym and Κάστος a new personal name. A few decades earlier, in an inscription from Istros (ISM I 193 where we have an attestation of an individual who was part of an association both at Tomis and Istros), there is an individual named Κάστος Ἀλεξάνδρου. At Istros the personal name Κάστος is attested several times. The individual was a φιλότιμος.
